Not my school!

Not yours either!

Do you know the Toronto District School Board wants to sell publicly owned school buildings and land to cut its deficit?

Do you know that the board uses the ARC and PART process to close schools?  Were you consulted or invited to be part of this?

Why is the School Board saying that the optimum size for elementary schools is 450 pupils and  return to larger JK to Grade 8 elementary schools, moving away from the JK-5/6 and middle school model?

Why is the Toronto District School Board now stating that the optimum size for secondary schools is 1,200 students?  Are you and your child unhappy with your small school?

How far is the walking distance to the larger school if your child’s school closes?

What will fill the neighbourhood green space if the school yard nearest you is sold to developers?

Do you know Timothy Eaton B.T.I., a secondary special education sites, is closing?   Did you know it became “under enrolled” because the school board discontinued their grade nine registration for September 2009?

How do you know if your child’s school is on the auction block?  Look at what’s going on.  Are there major program changes announced for next September?  Has the busing schedule changed?  Is there discussion of “declining enrollment” in your neighbourhood?

Did you know the Toronto District School Board has identified over 97 sites called  “non-operating” in the city?
