Bogus Consultations?

From the Campaign for Public Education:

TDSB has announced four public consultations over the next 13-day period to get public input to it’s proposed 2009-10 budget. Surprisingly, not even one of our 22 elected Trustees report to have yet received anything more than a 2-page summary outlining various Ministry grants – information already released to the public in late March of this year.

With no information on the extent of school and program cuts board staff are thinking about for this fall, (and observers believe no budget details will be released until the day AFTER the consultations are completed) those Trustees contacted this week were mostly at a loss for words.

In related news, two weeks ago school trustees commissioned a study of how best to conduct public consultations in the most effective way. (See tdsb.on.ca tabs: boardroom, minutes, 2009, April 22.) Board staff and Trustees may actually get an earful on this subject from empty-handed parents, students and concerned community members attending these upcoming consultations:
