Why are we here

Thanks for looking in.

The Toronto District School Board (TDSB)  -Here is the report - (Why can I not find this on the board’s site now?) and the Toronto Catholic  District School Board (TCDSB) have announced that they intend to close many schools and sell the land to developers. See if your school is on the list here or you could read my fantasy here.

What I believe*

  • Both boards are doing this in response to over 10 years of underfunding from the province.
  • We must keep as many local community based schools open as vital parts of city.
  • We must keep public assets, like school lands, in the public sector because there will be a need for more school places as the population fluctuates -we will never be able to afford to buy this land back – and because communities need schools for other social functions.

The TDSB could close 60 or 70 schools in the city.

The TCDSB has 17 schools under review in 5 ARCs with 5 schools suggested for possible closure.

So lets see if this blog can help keep some or perhaps all the schools in Toronto open.
